Police arrested several suspects involved in a stand-off at what neighbors describe as a carwash/detail shop on Broadway in Forrest City, Arkansas.
The police responded to the disturbance call regarding gun shots around 4pm this afternoon, but when they arrived the suspects scattered. During the manhunt, police put three nearby schools on lockdown including Lincoln Middle School, Stewart East Elementary and Stewart West Elementary School.
“There was just a big boom, like a big bomb went off,” said Tim Burgess who witnessed the police trying to distract the people inside the building with tear gas.
According to police, the location turned out to be more than a car wash. They say there was evidence of drugs being sold in the building. They found an AK-47 assault rifle, two hand guns as well as cocaine and marijuana on the site.
LT. Eddie Adamson of the Forrest City Police Force reported that they five people in custody.
