Customs and Border Protection Officers say they have made the largest single-seizure drug bust in nearly two years. The seizure took place at the Bride of the Americas. We’re told two semi trucks were trying to cross into the U.S. without noticeable cargo but that officers were alerted to something odd about the trailers.
Officers discovered more than 4,700 pounds of marijuana stuffed in a secret compartment at the front of a trailer. Inspectors first became suspicious when the semi was run through a gamma ray machine and the trailer’s length did not add up. In a separate search, officers found an additional 430 pounds of marijuana in a flat-bed truck. This time, the hidden compartment was discovered at the rear of the trailer.
