A multi-agency operation led to four arrests on drug related and violent offenses on Claymon Road in Oakboro.
A joint investigation with the Oakboro Police Department (OPD) and Stanly County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrests.
Darryl Kluttz, 44, of 579 Claymon Road, faces multiple drug-related charges including one count of intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, one count of delivering crack cocaine and one count of intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance.
Kluttz, who OPD Chief D.E. Whitley said was a repeat offender, remains in the Stanly County Jail under a $6,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 30.
Jeffrey Lane Smith, 44, of Barbee Road, Stanfield, was also arrested on drug charges after officers stopped him while traveling on Claymon Road.
He is charged with possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine and is expected in court July 31.
Additional investigations conducted by OPD led to charges against Earl Wayne Kluttz, 62, and Emma Eugenia Bennett, 42, of 579 Claymon Road, for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and for communicating threats.
The charges stem from what Whitley called “a vicious assault on Tamara Barbee Bowers,” of Reed Mine Road, Midland.
Both suspects were arrested and placed under $5,000 secured bond each.
They are due in court July 31.
Aspects of the investigations are ongoing and additional charges may be pending on the suspects.
