Nine drug dealers are off the streets of Russell County, the result of a major drug investigation. The round-up took place Monday morning.

The sheriff’s department says the operation actually began last year in October targeting drug dealers. After several months of investigating, they are on the look out for 31 people and 9 of them were caught Monday morning.

The early morning operation consisted of 50 law enforcement officials finding crack cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana. “This operation was targeting individuals who work on the street and sell to person’s who consumer the product,” said Russell County Sheriff Tommy Boswell.

The sheriff also says the round-up Monday went well, with no one getting hurt. The sheriff department is still on the look out for about 22 more people.

As for the suspects already arrested, their next step will be to appear in court later this week.
