Allentown police arrested nine people and recovered drugs, cash and a loaded handgun after searching a pair of downtown homes Wednesday morning in two unrelated investigations, police said.
After receiving complaints about suspicious activity at each of the homes, the vice and intelligence unit investigated and obtained two search warrants Wednesday, Assistant Chief Ron Manescu said.
At about 6:30 a.m., police served a warrant at 231 N. Law St., arresting six people and seizing drugs and cash.
Those arrested were the four occupants of the home, Mark Bailey, 48, Tyrelle L. Suttle, 18, Altarik Suttle, 19, and Stanley Suttle, 42. Police did not know how they were related.
Tyrelle and Stanley Suttle were each charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal conspiracy and tampering with evidence; Altarik Suttle was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of heroin. Stanley Suttle was arraigned before District Judge Karen Devine and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $15,000 bail. The other two are awaiting arraignment.
Bailey was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy and is awaiting arraignment, police said.
Also at the home, police arrested Myrtle R. Arnold, 41, of 624 N. Penn St. and charged her with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal conspiracy; and Nelson E. Barbosa, 18, of 340 W. Main St., Bath, and charged him with possession of cocaine. .
At about 8 a.m., police conducted the second search at 224 N. Blank St., where they arrested three people, recovered cocaine, marijuana, cash and a loaded .38-caliber gun, police said.
Angel L. Cruz, 42, and Tyisha Rodriguez, 19, who live at the home, were arrested. Both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Cruz was also charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of cocaine and Rodriguez was also charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Cruz was sent to Lehigh County Prison under $25,000 bail by District Judge Patricia Warmkessel. Also arrested at the home was Angel W. Semprit, 36, of Chicopee, Mass. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sent to county prison under $10,000 bail by Warmkessel.
