CHATHAM — He shoots, he scores . . . a bag full of pot.
Chatham-Kent police searched a hockey bag during a routine traffic stop last week and netted a haul of $100,000 worth of marijuana.
Police pulled over a red Mitsubishi Eclipse on Highway 401 south of Chatham. The vehicle was reportedly travelling at 129 km/h.
The OPP said when the officer approached, the smell of raw marijuana could be detected.
“One thing led to another,” said OPP Const. Aaron McPhail. “The driver of the vehicle actually indicated there was some drugs — a small quantity.”
A search found five kilograms of the drug, as well as $13,700 dollars in U.S. cash and $1,000 in Canadian currency.
